What are we looking for?

The Howden Markets team operates within Howden Group to execute the Group Strategy. Howden Markets provide the infrastructure, advice and business support to deliver sustainable, best in class placement solutions and drive carrier / market engagement to ensure best outcomes for Howden and its clients.

The individual will work with the team and other senior members of the department to develop, deliver and manage data help drive forward some of our most challenging and exciting data initiatives within a specific team/practice in the Howden UK&I, Howden Specialty and International - in line with the Howden Markets strategy to build and maintain strategic insurer relationships, grow and retain profitable business whilst ensuring that budget/targets are met or exceeded.

They will be a key contributor and support for other members of the team and business - helping to be a driving forces for data led decisions and to be a bridge between business, data and technology to bring data to life in ways that directly impact our business.

Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring that day to day activities operate in accordance with applicable Company and/or Group policies to achieve targets, develop the business and deliver an excellent and comprehensive service.

What is the role?

Coordination and Support

  • Recognise Howden Markets and business requirements to create data visualisations to transform raw data into relevant insights.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) with specific objectives and track them regularly.
  • Convert business needs into technical specifications and establish a timetable for job completion.
  • Liaise with technical IT data teams.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyse data and display it to aid decision-making
  • Ability to assess data, condense and convert into cogent graphics
  • Create, test, and deploy Power BI scripts, as well as execute efficient deep analysis.
  • Pulls data from source, Power Bi and/or Excel and transfers to PowerPoint to present information in a simple and digestible way for stakeholders.
  • Combine multiple datasets into visualisations to increase context and value from data.
  • Develop reporting and dashboards to support operating business.
  • Carry out data quality testing and profiling/scoping of data
  • Demonstrable SQL, PowerBI and advanced Excel skills.
  • Continuously improves monitoring and reporting of information to deliver enhanced value to our clients internally and externally.

Clients

  • With guidance from the team and senior members of Howden Markets, builds and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g. Group Data) and external contacts to ensure delivery meets expectations and is compliant.
  • Partners with the Howden Markets colleagues to acts as a point of contact for client requirements, portfolio issues and queries (internally & externally)

Suppliers/Markets

  • Remains aware of the market e.g. competitors, potential changes/risks to ensure practices and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard and contribute to the identification of opportunities and business growth.

  • Consistently delivers an excellent and comprehensive service

People Management/Personal Development:

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in insurance of up to 2 years desirable but not essential
  • Experience in dealing with clients and internal colleagues
  • Experience in using Excel to analyse data and create outputs
  • Experience in supporting a dynamic team
  • Understanding general principles of insurance
  • Understanding of London Market operations
  • Awareness of the regulatory environment and requirements including e.g. FCA rules, data protection, money laundering, specific standards of insureds' professional bodies - desirable but not essential
  • Uses initiative

  • Highly organised, with good planning/prioritisation/time management skills

  • GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths essential
  • Educated to degree standard (desirable, but not essential)
  • Technical qualifications in progress would be beneficial
  • Likely to have CII and have started to study for ACII
